Sep. 7th, 2007 01:37 am1) I've been spending every spare moment since this weekend trying to write this fic. (lunches, right after work till 2 or 3 am and so on) -- so I haven't exactly been doing any reading. I do skim my flist, but please forgive me if you've posted writing and I didn't comment. w/ the exception of a couple of drabbles, everything is on my to-read list.
2) For the record, I really, really hate this fic right now. I'll be lucky if I manage to get the minimum 1000 words. I've gotten to the point where I'm going around in circles w/ various ways of writing it/different angles, and none of them are working. Neville sounds too much like Harry. Snape is hardly in it, and when I try it from his perspective I lose all ability to convey the deeper card meanings I want to. The meanings of the Tarot card I'm using aren't clear enough regardless.
And, with few exceptions, the writing itself is shoddy. The one bit I'm happy with is the most developed, and also the one that has to be cut b/c it's veering the story off in the wrong direction.
I really shouldn't even refer to it as a story, since I don't actually *have* a story, I have vague notions of character and symbols. And about 600 words of junk (400 of which comprise the part that should be cut).
On that note, I'm going to sleep.
