fandoms/pairings: Harry Potter, Luna/Harry
kinks: Writing on the Body
medium: book page, charcoal, pen
summary: The idea here is that Harry's war guilt is written all over his body. Whether you take that to mean that luna literally inscribes words onto him to help him expel that guilt, or as a non-literal representation, is up to you.

Just a quick pimp to say that the [profile] hp_april_fools fest is coming close to it's close -- Go, take a look, and share some love before the big reveal!

My fool wrote me a snarry!  It's got a cliffhanger, so i'm selfishly hoping there will be more of it in the near future! : D

Title:Abuse of Power Comes as No Surprise
Recipient: [personal profile] synn
Author: Fool #22
Word Count: about 5,400
Rating:NC-17
Pairing(s): Severus/Harry, the briefest mention of Harry/Ginny
Warning(s): EWE, mindfuck, bdsm, noncon, intentional cruelty, blow job, glimpses of torture, sort of a cliff-hanger...
Disclaimer:any recognizable characters don't belong to me; I am just borrowing them for entertainment.
A/N Synn, you asked for Harry/Snape bdsm among other things, and I aim to please. You also asked for "dirty but loving scenes" and I fear I may have skated near the edge here. But I assure you, love is very much involved.
Acknowledgments Our Dear Mod pre_raphaelite1 deserves a medal for putting up with my whinging and excuses, and giving me copious extensions. (And a special prize for telling me "Now! or ELSE!" ) In spite of all the writerly angst this has really been fun, enlightening, and the fest a wonderful treat. I can tell you this: my respect for and admiration of writers has soared as I discovered how difficult it really is to make good fic. Writers, I doff my feathered cap to you all with much gratitude for all the pleasure you give us.

i'll be following the friends list posts, but as [personal profile] perverse_idyll said, if anyone hears anything about [personal profile] svartalfur, please let me know. I just found out about this (first time online all day) and I'm already worried. I really hope there's nothing seriously wrong.

You should all go read:

Title: March
Author: dracofiend
Pairing: HP/SS
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Romance
Summary: In like a lion, out like a lamb.

Right now. Seriously.

The pacing, the quiet tone, the pace of Harry's energy against Severus' stillness. This story is really, really well done. I held my breath while reading it, and I don't often do that.

Stephen King On 'Twilight' Author: 'Stephenie Meyer Can't Write Worth A Darn'

"According to Stephen, "Both Rowling and Meyer, they're speaking directly to young people... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good.""
AHAHAHA.
I find this hysterical because I consider Stephen King's writing to be awful. Truly. I think some of his books make great movies, but his writing, in a line-by-line sense, is terrible. imho, of course, and I don't mean any offense to any of you who happen to like his books. I don't think rowling can really write either, line by line, but I still enjoyed the hp books for the characters.

At least Rowling and Meyer's books are clearly directed towards children / young adults -- the writing style is expected to be different from what you get in adult books. King doesn't have that excuse.

Copying Pyrite, who is knitting folks things, I am offering a hand made something or other to the first five people who comment on this entry. it will arrive sometime before January 31. 2010 and be hand made by me. i don't have any idea what kinds of things I will make, but I'll try to make it awesome. Requires only a comment, and the willingness to provide a mailing address at some future date.

A while ago someone on my flist posted about watching Queer as Folk, and I thought I remembered who but apparantly didn't.

Anyway -- I own season two on DVD, and I'll probably never watch it again b/c it's the only season I own and I don't intend to buy others.
So, if one of you on my flist would like it, it's yours. The box shows wear, but the DVDs work perfectly. First come, first served, in case multiple people chime in.

I'm putting the set up on Half.com in a week, if I have no takers here before then. You can still inquire about it after that, and if I haven't sold it there I'll happily still send it to you for free.

HUZZAH!!! tomorrow I fly out (bloody early in the morning too) to see Bironic!
*dances*
I'll have internet access, but since I may not actually be online frequently -- HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DRACOLUVAH!!

I hope your day has been absolutely fantastic!
(and I'm hoping it's still your birthday where you are, but if you're getting this a little late, then I hope you had a great day, and that today, and every day after is just as great : )

What's the movie/tv version of Jane Eyre that's supposed to be the best?
I'd really like to see a good film version of it (the only one I've seen is an old black and white version, don't recall the actors in it)

Anyone know/have recs?
synn: (Default)
I know you probably don't believe me, but I do *try* to resist the lure of the meme. Especially when it means posting one meme right after another. This one, however, looked like great fun : )

Stump the writer!
Gakked from svartalfur

Stump the writer!

1] Go to my list of fics (or drabbles) and pick out a line or three from one of my stories. (Must be a full line, please -- no sentence fragments or speech tags or other such nonsense.)
[2] I will respond with which story of mine I think it's from. I SWEAR I WON'T CHEAT.

C'mon! Try me! : )

A Great, Big, Super-Wonderful HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Magic_Helmet!!

I hope you're having a fantastic day -- and that the coming year is full of joy, because really, you should have as much joy as possible  in life : )

Alas. Every one of the lovely people whose entries I had tagged for fic either got taken with the buy it now or had the bids quickly turn too rich for my wallet. My flist is truly full of talented people, but then, we knew that : )
I'm very glad I decided to post an offer for fic (it was a tough decision) because if it turns out to be the only way I can contribute, at least it's something (oh, and I didn't announce it on my post, but I'll be matching the contribution of the winning bid for my story).

I am in the mood for something light -- and a little different. Do any of you have any Harry/Ron, Harry/Neville, Severus/Bill (or other) recs for relatively short (10K or less), good stories? I'm looking for lighthearted, maybe a touch of angst to make things interesting, but ultimately just a nice romance?
synn: (Default)
*G* I don't think I really have to say it, because all the fic readers on my friends list already know, but team Dragon won Gold!! Huzzah!
That's three years running!  Whoot! Congratulations to Team Dragon and to Team Phoenix, to the Games mods, artist, readers, and commentors, for making the games absolutely fabulous! It's been said many times already, but of course, everyone wins with the snarry_games (b/c, you know, there's more snarry, and that's really all it takes, right? : )

This is also my post to say that my games story has now been uploaded to my webpage:

Title Learning to Speak
Author:
ThreeSidedOrchid
Pairing: SS/HP
Rating: pg-13
Warnings: pre-slash, the bastardization of a beloved Dr. Seuss book for my own purposes.
Summary: "Most men spend their lives trying to either brush off the ashes of their youth, or rekindle them. The truth is that the only way to move forward is to accept them. "
Author’s Notes: Team Dragon, for the genre romance with the prompts 'Ashes of Youth,' and 'St. Mungo''s. Many, many thanks to the Mods, as always, for organizing the games and their infinite patience with my extension request(s). Also, this story would not exist in any intelligible form if it weren't for the beta work of Bironic, Jadzialove, Mimiheart and Klynie1. I'm fairly sure I owe a portion of my soul to each of them for saving this story, Thank you. And My thanks too, to the other members of team dragon, particularly Joanwilder, for all of their support and encouragement along the way.
Disclaimer: The Harry Potter universe and its characters belong to JKR and Warner Brothers, not me. I'm not making any money off of this - it is done soley for love of the characters and fun.

While I only managed to finish my story for round 1, I have to say that the tarot fest is great fun. Of course the stories and artwork are incredible, but what makes it a blast to participate in is that the tarot prompts are so malleable. The cards -- their interpritations whether specific or vague, their symbology, can be used in such a variety of ways. Maybe I'm weird, but I like it because it makes me think. Of course, writing stories in general makes me think, but that usually comes after the prompt, not with/because of it. So I encourage those of you who haven't participated before to go have a look, and maybe give it a shot : )
